At Kettering Ideas, LLC we take a family approach to building. The company began out of Steve's passion for designing, creating and building. Originally from South Dakota, he grew up on a grain and livestock farm and recieved a BS Degree in Agronomy from South Dakota State University, intending to return to work on the family farm. Instead,  one of lifes' forks in the road intervened. He joined the ROTC and became a Pilot, later hired by American Airlines where he retired after 30 years as a 777 Captain.

Steve met and married Gloria, his wife of over 40 years and raised 3 successful children. Always the creative person at heart, Steve began with designing and building 2 personal homes over the years. He then ventured into doing the same for friends and family, and finally, after retiring from American Airlines, realized his dream of designing and building homes for others. As Steve says,

"my ideas are rooted in practicality and functionality, sort of organic, perhaps going back to my experience building things on the farm. My ideas are also filtered by the experience of building my first home literally with my own hands. Furthermore, I have lived in my own designs. I know what works."

Steve is a self taught Architect and Designer whose attention to detail and functionality has gained him a sort of cult following and reputation. Steve's beautiful wife Gloria, has an excellent eye for color and design. She is responsible for the eye appealing and seamless integration of material selections and color schemes for the homes. They are accompanied by a team of professionals.

Real Estate Agent, Jacqui Bloomquist with Coldwell Banker, assists in site and property selections for Steve and his clients. She is also the Marketing Expert for the finished projects that are made available for sale.

Jesus Salcedo with CDF General Contractors, is the onsite Construction Manager whose expert day to day building experience keeps everything on track.

"I cannot stand being ordinary. If it cannot be done exceptionally...then it is not worth doing!"
